Alden Joseph Brown, known professionally as Peter North, is a Canadian retired pornographic actor, director, and producer born on May 11, 1957, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Eric Austin Brown and Gisele Marie Robichaud. He moved to California in 1982 at the age of 25 and began his adult film career in spring 1983, initially performing in gay pornography under the name Matt Ramsey in five films before transitioning exclusively to heterosexual pornography. He adopted the stage name Peter North, explaining that it referenced both the anatomical term 'Peter' and the directional 'North,' reflecting his Canadian origins. North appeared in over 2,189 adult films and directed 78 films, primarily between 1998 and 2007, including his notable series North Pole and Anal Addicts. He produced more than 20 films, including 15 in the North Pole series. In 2001, he launched Northpole Entertainment, and in 2002, he co-founded Northstar Associates with Richie Zaye, based in Irvine, California. He frequently collaborated with studios including VCA, Northstar Associates, Western Visuals, CDI Home Video, and Vivid. North became widely recognized for his prolific ejaculatory performances, earning the nickname 'King of Cumshot' within the industry. He has worked with numerous prominent performers, including Trinity Loren, Jill Kelly, Christy Canyon, Keisha, Taylor Wayne, Rebecca Wild, Ashlyn Gere, Victoria Paris, Jewel De'Nyle, Barbara Dare, Candie Evans, Jenna Jameson, and Ginger Lynn. He was involved in the 1986 U.S. government investigation into Traci Lords's underage participation in the industry, though the case was dropped; he later criticized Lords's portrayal of herself as a victim. In 1994, he published a book titled Penetrating Insights. North is a member of the AVN and XRCO Halls of Fame. He won the F.O.X.E. Male Fan Favorite award three consecutive years (1990–1992), the Nightmoves Fan Award for Best Actor, and the XRCO Award for Best Group Scene for Slave To Love (1993). He was nominated for AVN Awards including Best Sex Scene—Shot-on-Video Feature for Angel Puss (1988), and for XBiz Awards for Best Scene - Non-Feature Release for North Pole 104 (2013). He was featured in Timothy Greenfield-Sanders's 2004 book XXX: 30 Porn-Star Portraits and HBO documentary Thinking XXX. North was married to Jewel De'Nyle from 1998 to 2000 and married Nadia North in summer 2014; they appeared together in several adult films. In July 2019, Nadia North obtained a restraining order against him following allegations of domestic violence, including two incidents in June 2019 that left her with a concussion and claims of approximately 20 violent encounters. In Kenny Gallo's 2009 memoir Breakshot, North was described as having threatened Gallo over the disclosure of his early gay film work, leading to a physical confrontation in which Gallo and an associate threatened North with violence.
